Belgin Ergüneş serves as the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Sydney as of 15 September 2024, she held various positions throughout her diplomatic career, which she started in 1995.

In Ankara, she worked as Third Secretary in the Deputy Directorate General for the Northeast Mediterranean (1995-1997), Second Secretary in the Deputy Directorate General for Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking (2002-2004), Head of Section in the Disarmament Department of the Deputy Directorate General for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (2008-2009), she worked as Head of Section at the NATO Deputy Directorate General (2009-2010), Head of the Nuclear Department at the Deputy Directorate General for Disarmament (2014-2016), Head of the Disarmament Department at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (2020-2021) and Head of the Department at the Deputy Directorate General for Multilateral Economic Relations (2021-2022).

Abroad, Consul General Ergüneş served as Third Secretary and Second Secretary at the Embassy in Cairo (1997-1999), Second Secretary at the Embassy in Pretoria (1999-2001), Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General in Zurich (2004-2008), First Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna (2010-2014), Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OECD (2017-2020) and First Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy in Tunisia (2023-2024).

Having completed her primary education in Paris and her secondary and high school education at Galatasaray High School, Consul General Ergüneş completed her Bachelor’s in International Economics and Finance at Sorbonne University. She continued with her MA and PhD in Diplomacy and International Organizations at the Jean Monnet Faculty of Paris XI.
